This page defines the best practices and forms a guideline for page creation/revision on this wiki.

Mechanics

Mechanics refers to the technical parts of writing. This covers capitalization, punctuation, spelling, use of numbers, abbreviations, and lists. This wiki follows APA style regarding mechanics of style.

Tables & Figures

Tables should have at minimum: A title or callout, column headings, and completely filled columns. If column information is not applicable, use a "-" to show this. If possible, avoid having a column with gaps by utilizing below table notes, or by covering the information in the page body.

Formatting & Sections

Pages must begin with a general description of the subject. This is the absolute minimum requirement and applies to stubs as well.

Item/Block pages should include the following Level 2 sections:

  • Usage
  • In-Game Description (if applicable)
  • Strategy

Accuracy & objectivity

Pages are expected to be 100% content accurate upon release. To facilitate this, all pages must be initially released in the draft namespace pending review by another contributor, referred to as "the checker".

The checker will evaluate a draft release for appropriate

  • spelling.
  • grammar.
  • completion.
  • links.
  • terminology.
  • objectivity.

Grammar

This wiki follows APA Style regarding grammar. The checker will verify against this. The use of the active voice is strongly encouraged.

Completion & Status

If the page is a stub (only a description), the checker will tag it as such on release. The checker will also check for any other relevant tags such as server-specific configuration information (for example "meteors don't spawn in dim0").

Links

The checker will check that links are used where appropriate, even if the linked page does not exist yet. Linking pages that do not exist makes it easier to create them later.

Terminology

The following is a list of terms and a short description of how they should be used:

  • the Overworld: DIM0. Use it when discussing properties unique to DIM0.
  • surface worlds: Dimensions with materials and properties similar to DIM0 (including DIM0). Use it when discussing properties that are not unique to DIM0 but are unique to surface worlds.

Objectivity

Objectivity is required in all sections other than strategy, where subjectivity is allowed to direct the reader towards methods/systems that they may find useful.
